I had a discussion yesterday with my wife about continuing relationships with friends and family who voted Republican.

I said I wasn't going to maintain that connection anymore. I hate the phrase that is already being tossed around again... "We can have a difference of opinion and still be friends."

Look... a difference of opinion is:
— it's okay to put pineapple on pizza,
— Batman could totally beat up Superman or
— the ’77 Yankees were a better team than the ’96 Yankees.

Those are differences of opinion.

But if you voted for Trump and any other Republican, we have a difference of morals.
You have told me with one action that you are a racist, a misogynist, a homophobe, a xenophobe and a transphobe. You are complicit in helping to eradicate me. You have told me you believe bringing down the cost of eggs is more important than protecting basic freedom in this country.

You are not worth my time anymore and I do not want you in my life.

My wife doesn't understand. She thinks people can still be friends even though they disagree.

FUCK THAT!!!

While I understand your position and even agree with you, for the most part, please remember that the reason Chump won was more about voter apathy. Chump retained the MAGAt minority with nearly the same vote total as 2020, but over 1/3 of the US eligible voters chose not to vote at all. That is the real reason the orange shit-gibbon won.

@nikatjef
Yeah, there are a number of reasons *why* he won... one of those beings apathy and third party voters.
But there were approximately 72 million fellow citizens who voted for him.

The people who didn't vote and purity test voters... they suck!

But to deliberately for a convicted felon and rapist, whose party platform wants to eradicate transgender citizens and who has said over and over he wants to dismantle the Constitution and is proud of eliminating the right to privacy a woman once had with her physician about her healthcare.

I'd feel this way even if VP Harris were the winner.

No. I'm done.
I am done with that half of the U.S. including my friends and family.

@nikatjef @WrenArcher Apathy in this case translates to approving the Trump agenda. There is no way around that, IMO.
